The Rumination Collection

Many years ago I moved to Kenya in pursuit of a dream. I spent two years living in Nairobi, running operations in a graphic reproduction company serving publishers and the international advertising agencies that operated there. I lacked sufficient experience and the job went wrong for me. So I sold all my possessions and hitched a ride on a passing lorry heading south. I travelled through five countries to stay with a (surprised) relative in South Africa.

The collapse of my Kenyan dream upset me deeply and in the final days of my stay there, I scrawled four sketches to try to express my mood. The five pictures in this Collection, each denoting a state of mind, are all based on one of these sketches.

It's curious to me that these pictures all denote aspects of me that have emerged since.
